For Immediate Release February 26, 2024 OHANA PACIFIC HEALTH SELECTED TO OPERATE DANIEL K. AKAKA STATE VETERANS HOME (HONOLULU, HAWAII) The Oahu Regional Healthcare System, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, is pleased to announce that Ohana Pacific Health (“OPH”) has been selected to operate the Daniel K. Akaka State Veterans Home (“DKASVH”) that is currently being constructed in Kapolei, Hawaii. OPH brings decades of experience and an extensive network of services to meet the long-term care needs of Hawaii’s veterans.
Construction of the DKASVH is slated to be finished in April 2024. Upon completion, the DKASVH will be a 120-bed, single occupancy room facility that provides in-patient skilled nursing, intermediate care and adult day health services for eligible veterans, their spouses, and gold-star parents. This project was made possible through a collaborative effort by the State of Hawaii Department of Defense (Office of Veterans Services), the State of Hawaii Department of Accounting and General Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Oahu Regional Healthcare System, HHSC, and the Hawaii Legislature. We anticipate that the first residents of the DKASVH will start being admitted by Fall 2024.
Founded in 1998, Ohana Pacific Health currently operates seventeen (17) healthcare entities across the islands, including eight (8) long-term care facilities spread across Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island.
In addition to its responsibilities for the DKASVH, the Oahu Region operates two state long-term care facilities, Leahi Hospital and Maluhia.
